Spring Break:

L.A. Dream Center
The famed LA Dream Center is a staging point for the tangible display of Christian love for hurting people. Take part in bus ministries, street evangelism, homeless outreaches, youth ministry and discipleship. Work with an organization that has a long history of genuinely effecting people and bringing them into the Kingdom.

New Mexico
ATTENTION NURSING/SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS: Work with AppleTree, a faith-based nonprofit organization that serves 300 low income at-risk youth from the community per week. Students will perform health and developmental screenings of children under 5 years of age. Students will also have the opportunity to teach evening parenting classes to the community. Other possible ministry opportunities include construction projects, VBS, and school assemblies.

New York
Work with the New York School of Urban Ministry to pass out food, blankets, and toiletries to the homeless. Serve breakfast and lead worship services at various homeless shelters. Pray with hurting people in hospitals and then for those walking down Wall Street. Lead an evening sermon and worship service at an addiction-recovery house for men and participate in other urban-centered ministries.

St. Louis Mercy
Mercy Ministries provides hope and healing to young women who have been seeking freedom from life-controlling problems such as addictions, depression, abuse, unplanned pregnancy, and self-harm. Build relationships and share Jesus with these women and serve the staff that counsels these young ladies.

Africa:

Ghana 2 week
Come live life for two weeks with the loving and generous people of Ghana! Work with Lifeline Ministries, a home for young girls whose lives are being transformed by the Gospel. Help them develop a practical trade that will be used to sustain them once they leave the home. Build one-on-one relationships with the nationals as you minister and preach in churches and homes. Infuse hope and share the message of God’s healing power to patients with AIDS and other diseases.

Tanzania 4 week BLOG
FOR MEN ONLY: Journey to the land of Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and the Serengeti and embark on an incredible adventure. This physically rigorous trip reaches unreached people groups deep in the African bush. Link up with a ministry that has been helping the people of Tanzania for the last 24 years by building roads, transporting educational supplies to villages, ministering to the homeless, evangelizing hut to hut, and planting churches.

Togo 4 week
Journey to West Africa where you will be traveling and planting churches in the bush of Togo’s remote villages. Despite the small size of Togo, it is home to over 40 ethnic groups and over 70 languages. Team members will have the opportunity to preach in local villages and lead children services with the village youth. Different forms of ministry include church services, hut to hut evangelism, and open-air outreaches. There is a strong emphasis on prayer and the deliverance ministry throughout the course of the trip.

Uganda 4 week
Uganda is in the heart of Africa with its equatorial location on the shore of Lake Victoria. Team up with local churches to build the Kingdom of God in this beautiful nation. Team members will have many opportunities to speak, preach, and teach through village church services, hut-to-hut evangelism, street evangelism, seminars, dramas, and youth and children’s events.

Zambia 4 week
This East African land is home to the majestic Victoria Falls and the wild Zambezi River. There will be numerous opportunities to work with children through Vacation Bible School and other children’s outreaches. Be a part of the evangelistic efforts in the villages of Sechutye and Katubia and in open-air outreaches in the surrounding villages.

Americas:

Belize 4 week
Belize is situated on the Caribbean Sea bordering Mexico and Guatemala. Work with an organization conducting preschool and a sponsorship program for children. This is a great opportunity for education majors and anyone who loves children. The trip will also involve evangelistic ministry to local schools as well as the construction of houses for the poor and needy.

Brazil Construction 4 week
Be part of an ongoing project in the Amazon by constructing a church building in a village. Labor alongside Project AmaZon (PAZ) who has planted over 500 churches in the last thirty years. After sweating throughout the day, spend time in the evenings building relationships with villagers. Share the message of God’s hope and love with people as you build a church in their community.

Puerto Rico 2 week
Travel to Puerto Rico, a vibrant multicultural society that has been molded by Spanish, African, Indian, and U.S. influences. Engage in a culture with beautiful tradition and a deep spiritual hunger. Be a light to the darkness in the streets of San Juan ministering and evangelize through relationship building. Enact dramas, engage in school ministry, and share personal testimonies.

Asia:

Cambodia 4 week
Spend four weeks in Cambodia serving the rural churches connected to New Life Fellowship Ministry. Build relationships by teaching English and training people in office and computer skills. There will be opportunities for construction and mechanical projects, along with youth and children’s ministry. Team Cambodia needs students with various skill sets and a definite heart to serve.

China 4 week
Travel to China, a country closed to the gospel that boasts the largest population in the world. Serve in the Daxing Province of Beijing with an organization called New Day Creations. Use teaching English as a tool to build authentic relationships that will advance the Kingdom and work in a foster home showing the love of Christ to children with deformities and health problems.

Japan 4 week
Travel to the island nation of Japan and engage in a Starbucks ministry. Drink coffee and build relationships that could lead to spiritual conversations and sharing the gospel. Teach English as a second language and give testimonies at churches and special events. Help plan, advertise, and participate in church BBQ’s that are geared toward building relationships and ultimately bringing people to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

Thailand 7 week
Spend seven weeks working with a thriving school and ministry called Santisuk English School. Spend four hours Monday through Thursday teaching English classes and building relationships with the students who range from junior high to college age. Spend weekends with students outside the classroom sightseeing, attending worship services, and cell groups. This is a great opportunity for any ORU student interested in teaching English overseas. You do not have to have any teaching background to go.

Fiji 7 week
Travel to Fiji, a nation composed of over 300 islands. Encourage local believers through preaching, singing, and children’s ministry. Engage in personal door-to-door evangelism with people groups who have never heard the gospel. Fiji is composed mainly of Eastern Indians and Fijian natives. You will have the opportunity to stay in several village communities throughout your time on the islands and engage both of the main people groups with the Gospel.

Europe:

Germany 2 week
Work with a well established YWAM base in leading various youth groups, engage in street evangelism, and help teach leadership principles. You will have the opportunity to share the gospel with students both in high school and college along with those in drug rehabilitation. The believers in this area have seen great change for the Kingdom over the last 5-10 years. Come be a part of seeing that growth remain.

Poland 4 week
Travel to Krakow, a beautiful historic city in the heart of Poland. Be immersed in the dialogue of WWII by traveling to sites including Auschwitz and Birkenau. Hold prayer services with both Protestant “communities” and a group of charismatic Catholics. Teach in high school religion classes, engage in sports outreaches, build relationships with people in a coffee shop ministry, share testimonies with small groups, and teach English as a second language.

Romania 4 week
Travel to the Eastern European country of Romania to the medieval city of Medias. Work with a YWAM base that prepares young people to serve in the missions field worldwide. Build intentional relationships and live life with these future missionaries and the staff at the base. Preach and lead worship in village churches, and show love to orphans and gypsy children through services and evangelistic outreaches.

Russia 4 week
Russia continues to fight for spiritual freedom from the after-effects of decades of depression and bondage. Be a catalyst to bring the freedom of the Gospel to the lost and hurting people of Kansk, Siberia. Serve local ministries through a wide variety of opportunities including working at a local orphanage, conducting youth camps, ministering at rehab centers, as well as homeless camps. You will also have an opportunity to participate in evangelistic outreaches and services, potentially culminating in a church plant.

International Development:

Dominican Republic 4 week
Travel to the little island that houses both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. You will have the opportunity to observe an election for the first portion of the trip and then work closely with a number of development projects for the remainder of your time.*
Course: Earn up to 6 hours credit by registering for both the spring GOV 370 Area Studies class and 1st summer session Gov 370 Area Studies. With department permission the classes may substitute for other required classes such as Humanities.*

Guatemala Water 4 week
Work with Living Water International to train, equip and consult nationals concerning energy, sustainable resources and participatory water systems that meet the long-term needs of communities. Partner with Mission Impact to work with local families in rural communities to build fuel efficient stoves. These reduce the amount of smoke in the home and prevent respiratory sickness. Also, help provide clean, healthy water by building cisterns that collect rain water.

Kenya: Disciples of Mercy 4 week
Disciples of Mercy (DOM) is a non-governmental organization with its main emphasis on the underdeveloped people of rural Kenya. DOM is a dynamic organization with many different functions. Work with their church, primary school, medical clinic, vocational school, orphan and widow program, and bakery. Design websites and logos, create pamphlets, and write business plans. Lead school devotionals, participate in school outreaches and participate in employee prayer each morning.


Kenya: Dominion Farms 4 week
Take a step into the diversified farming operations of Kenya Dominion farms. You will travel to west Kenya and take part in their ongoing efforts to develop one of the most impoverished areas of Kenya. The farming operations work to cultivate long grain rice, fish and other agricultural products. This trip is an amazing opportunity to use your skills developed in the classroom and put them to work for people in desperate need.


Media - Kenya, Guatemala, Belize (facebook)
This isn't your average slideshow operation - the media team, composed of 4 media production majors, will divide and conquer as two men visit Guatemala and Belize and the ladies accompany the Kenya development teams to document their experiences. The media team is designed to give students an opportunity to use their media skills to tell the greatest story ever known - the story of redemption and reconciliation that is bringing hope around the world.


Morocco: Business/Media 4 week
Come to the North of Africa, and see Spanish, European and African cultures combine. Islam is the dominant religion for the almost 37 million living here. The team will assist in developing a tourist company in Rabat, Morocco. You will engage in activities like business planning, photography, videography, graphic design, web development, and other business and media functions to help further develop their company’s online tourism services. Come ready to use your skills for the Kingdom.


Senegal: LEAD International 4 week
Have the opportunity to work with LEAD International to help empower those who live in poverty to support themselves. LEAD provides education, economic development, leader development, spiritual growth, and supports public health. Students will assist developing LEAD’S cashew project and will teach community business classes.
